I caught this 17 3/4 inch catfish on a 4 WT fly rod, yesterday. That’s the fly world’s equal to an ultralight rod. Or to explain further, not a rod to be catching catfish. 🥴
How I got there. I began by targeting bluegill with a bug I tied and that has been effective regardless the body of water. I began catching crappie. Yeh…crappie eat bugs. So much so that a major crappie lure company makes a conventional fishing, plastic mayfly. But crappie notoriously chase minnows, shad and the like.
So I tied on my bread and butter regardless where what day the weather night day best lure I’ve ever used-a mini version of my marabou jig. Yep, made a numbers caught difference. And then…this. I don’t catfish though this lake begs to differ almost every time I fish it. 🤨
